Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ)

About NIOZ

NIOZ is the national oceanographic institute and centre of expertise in the Netherlands for the ocean, sea and coast.

At NIOZ we advance fundamental understanding of marine systems, the way they change, the role they play in climate and biodiversity, and how they may provide sustainable solutions to society in the future.

Mission and vision

In these crucial decades for the planet, NIOZ, with its unique blend of science and seagoing operations, plays an important role in advancing our fundamental understanding of changes in marine processes, the stability of marine systems, possible tipping points and potential solutions to address the big societal questions that are posed by the climate and biodiversity crises.

Organisation

NIOZ has four scientific departments and two support departments. The institute provides state-of-the-art marine research vessels and equipment, supporting scientific exploration of marine environments.

This data repository

This data repository is operated by NIOZ to publish and share research datasets. It allows users to browse and download datasets, explore organisations and groups.
